Common Questions From Families
How many students are in each grade?
Grade sizes range from 15 to 30 students. Middle and Upper School class sizes vary by subject and interest, but never more than 25. Most world language classes have 10 or fewer students.
In which grades are new students admitted?
We currently accept students from PreK 3 through Grade 12.
Do you require ISEE or SSAT scores?
No. We do not require standardized test scores for admission. Optional documents may be submitted.
What does tuition include?
Tuition covers books, all school supplies, overnight trips, technology, field trips, and Chromebooks for Middle and Upper School students. International trips, chorus trips, and after-school activities by outside vendors are excluded. Extended Day for Lower School is an additional flat fee.
What are the hours of the school day?
Lower School begins gathering at 8:30 AM and dismisses at 3:15 PM (enrichment until 4:15 PM). Middle School gathers at 8:15 AM, dismissing at 3:25 PM. Upper School gathers at 8:15 AM, and students leave after their last scheduled class.
Is lunch provided?
No. Middle School students can bring lunch or order from a school-approved vendor. Upper School students are allowed to leave campus during break periods.
Which sports are offered?
Upper School: Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Girls’ Volleyball. Middle School: Basketball, Coed Soccer, Girls’ Volleyball, Track, and Flag Football.
Is bus transportation available?
No, but most students use public transit. Participating county residents may qualify for transportation reimbursement. NJ Transit offers student rates, and NYC residents are eligible for a student MetroCard.
What is the process for international students?
International students follow the same application process. Non-native English speakers complete an assessment with a THS teacher via Google Meet. No TOEFL scores are required.
