About

Our Philosophy

We believe in educating the whole child — intellectually curious, morally courageous, and deeply compassionate. At Hudson, students learn not just what to think, but how to think.

The Hudson School provides intellectually inquisitive students with a rigorous and relevant college-preparatory education that inspires independent thinking and intellectual risk-taking — in an intimate learning community built on courage, compassion, and commitment.
Our Values

Courage, Compassion, Commitment

Courage

Students demonstrate physical, mental, and moral strength to persevere. They perform on stage, organize community marches, and present research in public forums — constantly stepping outside their comfort zones.

Compassion

Through spirited discussion, vigorous debate, and extraordinary community service, students experience the power of kindness. Compassion is the foundation of learning at THS.

Commitment

Not every student will breeze through every class, but a Hudson student knows that attending extra help, meeting with teachers, and working with classmates builds something that lasts far longer than any grade.

Our Approach

Where Real Learning Happens

Hudson students engage deeply with ideas. They wrestle with complex texts, design experiments, build arguments, perform, compete, and collaborate. Our teachers see themselves as practicing experts and role models — their enthusiasm in the classroom is infectious. With an average class size under 20 and extraordinary access to faculty, students receive the individual attention that transforms how school feels.

In my 20 years at Hudson I have had many students point out to me that I had not marked something incorrect on their test and, as a result, I should take those points off and lower their grade!
